About Lucia Cunningham

Lucia Cunningham is an accomplished dance educator, choreographer, and biokineticist based in Johannesburg, South Africa. With a career spanning over two decades, she has made significant contributions to the field of dance education.

Lucia holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Dance Education from the University of Bath. Her academic background also includes a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biokinetics from the University of Witwatersrand and Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) from the Royal Academy of Dance.

Currently, Lucia is the Head of Dance at Reddam House, Bedfordview, where she develops and implements dance curricula for students from Grade 8 to 12. She also serves as the Dance Programme Director of LC Dance Academy, which operates at Reddam House Bedfordview. Her notable achievements include winning Best Choreographer for "Circle of Life" in the Apple Competition 2014 and securing the Studio of Excellence award at Starpower International 2024, where she was also recognized for Best Choreography.

In addition to her role at Reddam House, Lucia serves as a National Theory and Practical Examiner for Dance Studies with the Independent Examination Board (IEB), where she sets national exams and assesses student performance across South Africa. Previously, she was the Dance Teacher and Coordinator of Dance Programmes at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, where she directed the OWLAG Dance Company.

Lucia is also the Director and Talent Booker at LC Productions, a company she founded to manage freelance artists and produce entertainment for various events. Her excellence in this field earned her a nomination for Forbes Africa’s Top 30 under 30 in 2018.

Her extensive performance career includes dancing at prestigious corporate events, sports tournaments, cabarets, extravaganza's and international shows, highlighting her versatility and passion for dance. Lucia's dedication to her craft and her students is evident in her numerous accolades and the success of her pupils in pursuing professional dance careers.
